Tata Punch EV Facelift Makes Early Arrival in Nepal
Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the updated Punch EV in Nepal, and the facelifted model has already been spotted in Kathmandu ahead of its official debut at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.
As the first major update to Tata's compact electric SUV, the new Punch EV facelift arrives with a larger battery pack, increased driving range, refreshed styling, and several technology upgrades aimed at making the vehicle more competitive in Nepal's growing EV market.
The Nepal-bound Punch EV facelift is expected to feature a 40 kWh battery pack paired with a front-wheel-drive electric motor. The motor delivers 129 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque, providing a balance of performance and efficiency for both city driving and highway journeys.
According to Tata Motors, the updated model offers an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 468 kilometers on a full charge. Under typical real-world driving conditions, the range is expected to be around 355 kilometers. The SUV can also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than nine seconds, making it one of the quicker electric vehicles in its segment.
Drivers will have access to three selectable driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport. The Punch EV facelift also features four levels of regenerative braking, which can be adjusted through steering-mounted paddle shifters to help maximize battery efficiency.
One of the notable improvements comes in charging capability. The updated model supports DC fast charging of up to 65 kW. Tata claims the battery can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes under ideal conditions. A quick 15-minute charge is said to provide up to 135 kilometers of additional driving range. The battery management system has also been enhanced with improved thermal control for better efficiency and long-term performance.
Visually, the facelifted Punch EV adopts a cleaner and more modern appearance inspired by Tata's latest design language. Changes include a redesigned front fascia, a revised closed grille, newly styled 16-inch alloy wheels, fresh exterior color choices, and connected LED tail lamps at the rear. The SUV continues to offer 195 mm of ground clearance and a water-wading capability of up to 450 mm, making it suitable for varying road conditions across Nepal.
Inside the cabin, Tata has retained the practical layout while introducing upgraded materials and technology. Higher variants are expected to feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other premium features include wireless smartphone charging, ventilated front seats, connected car technology, and a 360-degree camera system.
Safety remains a key focus for the updated model. Standard equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Assist, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), High Beam Assist, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.
With a larger battery, improved charging speeds, updated technology, and a refreshed design, the Tata Punch EV facelift is expected to attract significant attention when it officially launches in Nepal. The model is likely to further strengthen Tata Motors' position in the country's fast-growing electric vehicle segment.
