Paramount Motors brings four affordable Wuling electric vehicles to Nepal.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on Nepal’s growing electric vehicle market, you’ve probably noticed a new name entering the scene. Paramount Motors, a well-known distributor in the country, has officially announced the launch of four Wuling electric vehicles. And yes, this is big news for anyone looking to switch to EVs without breaking the bank.

Wuling, a brand under the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, has already made waves in China and Southeast Asia with its affordable, practical electric cars. Now, Nepal gets its turn.

So, what’s coming? When can you book one? And most importantly  what will it cost you? Let’s break it all down.

Which Four Wuling EVs Are Launching in Nepal?

Paramount Motors is bringing a mix of compact commuters and slightly more practical hatchbacks. Here’s the lineup:

  1. Wuling Hongguang Mini EV – The tiny, boxy city car that became China’s best-selling EV. Perfect for narrow Kathmandu streets.

  2. Wuling Air EV – A slightly more premium two-door EV with a modern design. Think of it as the Mini EV’s stylish sibling.

  3. Wuling Binguo EV – A five-door hatchback with more space. It competes with the likes of the Tata Tiago EV or Citroen e-C3.

  4. Wuling Cloud EV – The largest of the bunch. More interior room, better range, and a softer ride. Aimed at small families or ride-share operators.

Each model targets a different budget and use case. So whether you just need a grocery-getter or a daily driver for three people, there’s likely an option.

Launch Date – When Can You Buy?

Paramount Motors has confirmed that the official launch event will take place in late May 2026, with showroom displays and test drives starting by the first week of June 2026.

Bookings are expected to open around mid-May, though you might want to reach out to their showrooms in Kathmandu (Naxal and Chabahil) a bit earlier if you don’t want to wait in a long queue.

Expected Prices in Nepal (with conversion & taxes)

Since these are CBU (Completely Built Up) imports, Nepal’s EV tax structure applies – which is still favorable for cars under 100 kWh battery capacity. Here’s the expected price range for each model (ex-showroom, Kathmandu):

Model Estimated Price (NPR) Battery Capacity Approx Range
Wuling Hongguang Mini EV NPR 14.5 – 16.5 lakhs 9.2 – 13.8 kWh 120 – 170 km
Wuling Air EV NPR 18 – 20 lakhs 26.7 kWh 200 – 250 km
Wuling Binguo EV NPR 23 – 26 lakhs 31.9 kWh 280 – 330 km
Wuling Cloud EV NPR 29 – 33 lakhs 50.6 kWh 360 – 400 km

Note: Prices may vary slightly based on final customs valuation and variant (standard vs long-range).

For context  the Mini EV undercuts Nepal’s cheapest current EVs (like the C3 or Tiago) by a solid margin. That’s a big deal for first-time EV buyers.

What Buyers Should Know Before Booking

Don’t rush to book just because the prices look tempting. Here are a few practical things to consider:

1. Charging infrastructure is still growing
Outside the Valley, fast chargers are rare. The Mini EV and Air EV don’t support DC fast charging only AC slow charging (6–8 hours). So if you live in Pokhara or Chitwan and drive daily, the Binguo or Cloud might make more sense.

2. Parts and service network
Paramount Motors already has service centers in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Biratnagar. But for Wuling specifically, they’re setting up dedicated EV bays. Ask them about spare part availability before you pay especially for batteries and body panels.

3. Battery warranty matters
Wuling offers an 8-year / 120,000 km warranty on batteries in other markets. Paramount has hinted at a similar policy, but get it in writing. And check if degradation below 70% is covered.

4. Real-world range vs claimed range
Nepal’s hills and traffic will reduce range by 15–25%. So a Mini EV claiming 170 km might give you 120–130 km in real life. Plan accordingly.

5. Financing and insurance
Some banks like Nabil and NIC Asia have EV loan schemes starting at 8–9% interest. Insurance for Wuling EVs will likely be handled through Shikhar or Siddhartha Insurance  but confirm if zero-depreciation cover is available.

Performance and Range
The lineup covers everyone from city commuters to highway travelers. The Hongguang Mini EV is best for very short daily trips (under 30 km), while the Air EV adds a bit more flexibility with extended range options. For a true all-rounder that can handle city driving and occasional highway trips, the Binguo EV with its 330 km range is the sweet spot. The Cloud EV will likely suit families needing maximum space and performance.

Charging Considerations

Home Charging Only: The Hongguang Mini EV does not support DC fast charging. You will need a dedicated parking spot with a 6-9 hour overnight charging window.

Mixed Charging: The Air EV (Long Range) and the Binguo EV support DC fast charging, which can take the battery from 30% to 80% in about 35-60 minutes, making longer trips outside the valley more feasible.

Should You Wait or Buy Now?

If you need a pure city runabout and have off-street parking for slow charging, the Wuling Mini EV is hard to beat on price.
If you occasionally leave the Valley, skip the Mini and go for the Binguo it’s worth the extra money just for the faster charging and safer highway manners.

Also, keep an eye on government subsidy announcements. Nepal’s budget often includes reduced customs or registration fees for EVs under a certain price  and the Mini EV might just qualify.

Final Word

Paramount Motors has made a smart move by bringing Wuling’s four EVs at once. Instead of testing with one model, they’re offering a ladder from cheap city cars to practical family hatchbacks.

If you’re in the market for an EV in 2026, at least test drive the Wuling Binguo or Cloud before you pick a Tata or BYD. You might be surprised at what you get for the price.
